Zerrene Brooks (Mouhidden)

Zerrene Brooks, age 87 of Warren and Canadian Lakes passed away peacefully on Friday, June 10, 2016 at Troy Beaumont Hospital in Troy, Michigan.

She was born the daughter of Kadrie & Esther (Wagner) Mouhidden in Detroit and they precede her in death as well as her husband of 56 years, Dorsey Brooks, Jr. and her sister, Nihal Mouhidden.

Surviving Zerrene are two daughters, Julane (Jerry) Alt of Libertyville, Illinois and Deidree (Robert) Mathis of Troy; one son, Daryl (Judy) Brooks of Warren; six grandchildren, Andrea Wilson, Jason Alt, Eric Alt, Monica Mathis, Jessica Mathis, Mark Mathis and two great grandchildren, Heather Wilson and Bridgette Wilson.

Zerrene and Dorsey formed one of the best bridge playing couples of all times. Zerrene was a beloved bridge teacher and Girl Scout leader in the city of Warren for over 20 years. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Visitation with Zerrene’s family will be on Monday, June 13, 2016 from 3 PM to 8 PM at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan (246 S. Main Street, Sheridan, MI 48884).

Funeral services for Zerrene are being held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at the funeral home. Final interment will be at McBride Cemetery.

For those who wish to make a memorial donation in Zerrene’s memory the family has suggested donations be sent to the Girl Scouts of Southeast Michigan.
