Obituary for
Zelma Fockler
7/22/1921 – 9/16/2012
Zelma Luella Fockler, age 91, formerly of Stanton, went home to her heavenly Father on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at Hospice House of Mid Michigan, in Lansing. She was born on July 22, 1921, in Stanton, the daughter of Ernest & Bessie (Adams) Brace.
Surviving is her daughter and son-in-law, Wanda & Jerry Koroniotis of Grand Ledge, her son, Ben Bartholomew of Deltona, Florida, 5 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Joann & Janette Brace, several loving nieces and nephews and many friends at Serenity Place and Sommerset Senior Apartments.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Franklin Bartholomew, a daughter-in-law, Cynthia Bartholomew, a great grandson, Luke Jacobs, two brothers, Allen & Stanley Brace, a niece, Dawn Crooks and grandogs, Reme, Tanner and Buster.
Living independently until June, Mrs. Fockler enjoyed every phase of her life, especially working as a licensed practical nurse in private duty nursing and at local nursing homes; finally retiring at age 75. She was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and enjoyed being a reader of the Holy Scriptures on Sundays.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorial considerations can be made to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan in care of Sparrow Foundation, 1110 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing, MI 48909. The family wishes to thank all the hospice staff and volunteers for their tender loving care that Zelma received.
Funeral services beginning at 11:00 A.M. will be held at the Simpson Family Funeral Home, Sheridan, on Wednesday, September 19th with Rev. Roger K. Straub officiating. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery, Entrican.
Visitation at the funeral home will also be on Wednesday beginning at 10:00 A.M.; one hour prior to the funeral service.
