Wilma F. Gavitt, age 98, passed away on Thursday, May 24, 2012 in Piqua, Ohio. She was born on March 24, 1914 in Plains, Georgia, the daughter of J. George & Mittie (Shell) Gleason, both of whom have preceded her in death.
On April 24, 1932, Mrs. Gavitt was married to Rayburn A. Gavitt and he also has preceded her in death.
Surviving is one daughter and her husband, W. Irene & William Shoen of Piqua, Ohio, three grandchildren, Nancy West of Dublin, Ohio, Jeff & Diane Shoen of Illinois and Tom Shoen, of Illinois plus six great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.
Mrs. Gavitt has been a resident of Piqua, Ohio since 2006 and was formerly of Palo and Stanton, Michigan where she was a member of the Traditional Congregational Church.
Funeral services beginning at 11:00 AM will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at the Simpson Family Funeral Home, Sheridan, Michigan with Rev. Larry Pike officiating.
Interment will be at the Palo Cemetery, where she will be buried next to her late husband.
For those desiring to do so, the family has suggested memorial considerations can be made to the White Pine Library in Stanton, Michigan. There will be envelopes available at the funeral home.
