William Lawrence, age 89 of Stanton, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, July 6, 2020.
If it had four wheels and a motor Bill was all about it. A car guy through and through, Bill loved to tinker with, fix up, and restore old cars. He proudly served his country in both the United States Marine Corps and Michigan National Guard. Bill was a member of the Stanton American Legion and a life member of the Sheridan VFW Post. He also enjoyed camping, swimming, golfing, singing in the church choir, and playing softball.
Surviving Bill are his daughters, Shelley (Rob) Belt of Stanton; Kim (Chris) Putt of Greenville; grandchildren; Dustin Addis of Stanton; Britney (Andy) Myers of Freeland; Brooken (Kristina) Belt of Vero Beach, Florida; Otis (Laura) Putt of Golden, Colorado; Quinn Putt of Virginia Beach, Virginia; great grandchildren, Pearson; Palmer; Pace; Breslyn; Cambri; Brecken; his beloved Dianne Weger and her extended family; Dianne’s children, Deb (Terry) Thomsen of Stanton; David (Denise) Jacobsen of Sheridan; Denise (Mike) Higgins of Fenwick.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Walter & Urisa (Shade) Lawrence; wife, Joyce Lawrence; daughter, Linda Sue Addis; sister, Helen Fountain; and grandson, Talin Jo Addis.
Visitation is being held on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 from 4 – 7 PM at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Stanton (225 W. Cedar Street). Due to the COVID Pandemic and executive orders in place by the Governor, only 10 people will be allowed in the funeral home at any one time and you are asked to wear a face mask while inside.
Private family funeral services will be held at the First Congregational Church of Stanton with Pastor Jamey Nichols officiating. Bill will be laid to rest in North Sidney Cemetery.
