William “Bill” Dixon III, age 58 of Sheridan, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at his home. He was born on August 9, 1955 in Grand Rapids, the son of William & Shirley (Hatfield) Dixon Jr.
On October 8, 1977, in Carson City, Bill was married to Marilyn S. Simon and she survives in addition to his children, Tracie & Chad Coffman, Grand Rapids, Jennifer Bunce, Belding, William & Molly Dixon IV, Hamlet, Indiana, Yolanda & Donald Graham, Wyoming, MI, his grandchildren, Andrew & Jase Bunce, William V & Eden Dixon, Alden & Roman Coffman, his parents, William & Jean Dixon, Prattville, AL, Shirley & LeRoy McClain, Muskegon, Bill & Ann Heether, Sheridan, and his siblings, Janet & Paul Burkhart, Milbrooke, AL, Rebekah & Mickey Jones, Milbrooke, AL, Rose Totten, White Cloud, Sandy Sanford, Seattle, WA, Annette & Jim Hufford, Stanton, Lisa & Will Vansconis, Greenville,Robert & Maria Smith, Gig Harbor, WA, Larry Heether, White Cloud, Donald & Karen Badge, Sheridan, Douglas & Debra Badge, Sheridan, Dale & Ann Badge of Alma plus many cousins.
Bill was preceded in death by his grandfather, William Dixon Sr. 2 grandmothers, Eula Mae White and Dorothy Bloomberg and his father and mother in law, Roman & Rita Simon.
Bill has been a longtime resident of Sheridan and was a member of St. Bernadette of Lourdes Catholic Church. In addition, he was a US Marine Corp veteran of the Vietnam Conflict.
A Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11:00 AM will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at St. Bernadette of Lourdes Church in Stanton with Rev. Fr. Dominic Tirkey officiating. Interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Sheridan.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 18th from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan where the family will meet with friends and relatives.
