Western D. Wiggins

Western D. Wiggins, Sr., age 72, of Saranac, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at the University of Michigan Health West Hospital in Wyoming.

Wes was a very gifted and talented man.  He was a machinist by trade.  Wes was blessed with the gift to gab and could strike up a conversation with anyone.  Wes was also a very talented artist, woodworker, and woodcarver, who could make just about anything and oftentimes even made his own tools.  He was a tremendous cook and also an avid fisherman.  Wes also loved riding his motorcycle and raced cars in his younger days, driving his #711 race car at various dirt tracks in the area.  Wes was a wonderful man, who loved and cared for everyone.  He will be dearly missed by his friends and family.

Wes is survived by his wife, Mae Wiggins; children, Tom (Mona) Corl, Tiffiney Wiggins, Western II (Donna) Wiggins, Christopher (Ashley) Wiggins, Crystal Horton, Perry Wiggins, Tammy Corl, Deb Richmond, Julie (Bob) Mohr, Sally Dare, Gerald Corl, Rod Palmer; lots of grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren; siblings, Dale (Maxine) Wiggins, Mikey Wiggins, Nona DeYoung, Larry Wiggins, Jamie (Tim) Brown, Julie (Gene) Getts, Danny Wiggins, Linda Wiggins; and lots of nieces and nephews.

Wes was preceded in death by his parents, Myron & Iva (Main) Wiggins; grandson, Dustin Smith; sisters, Ilene Brown and Laurie Blair; nephew, Little Dale; and son-in-law, Joe Hartupee.

Wes’s life is being celebrated on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, at Simpson Family Funeral Homes in Sheridan (246 S. Main St.).  Visitation will be from 10 AM to 12 Noon.  Funeral services will begin at 12 Noon, with graveside services and Military Rites at Palo Cemetery following the funeral ceremony.  In honoring Wes, he will be taking his last ride on Simpson Family Funeral Home’s motorcycle hearse.
