Wava Schachtele
Wava Lee Schachtele, age 92 of Stanton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 10, 2018.
She was born the daughter of Walter & Beatrice (Smith) Doxey in St. Louis, Michigan and they along with her husband, Leo and son, Leo Craig Schachtele, have preceded her in death.
Wava Lee was a wonderful and great cook. If you were in a hurry you didn’t dare tell her you hadn’t eaten because she would help you find the time to eat and cook you a big meal. She and her husband, Leo loved to go dancing; especially square dancing. She enjoyed singing at funerals and weddings over the years. Wava Lee also worked as a bookkeeper for many years at the Stanton Elevator and Stanton Seed Company. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Sidney, the Stanton American Legion and the Sheridan VFW Auxiliary. Wava Lee loved her family and will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
Surviving Wava Lee is her daughter, Linda (Lawrence) Cannon of Stanton. Grandchildren, Troy (Beth) Bellows of Stanton; Lynn Marie (Joe) Girskis of Trufant; Heather (Wayne) Dillon of Stanton; Heath Schachtele of Los Angeles, California. Great Grandchildren, Mandi Bellows of Stanton; Christopher Bellows of Stanton; Leo (Maxine) Bellows of Sheridan; Judd Girskis of Trufant; Kaelee Girskis of Trufant; Miranda Barnes of Peabody, Massachusetts; Spencer Barnes of Peabody, Massachusetts; Mitchell Barnes of Peabody, Massachusetts. Great Great Grandchildren, James and Elena.
Wava Lee’s family would like to invite everyone to help celebrate her life at a memorial service on Monday, May 7, 2018 at the Faith Lutheran church in Sidney beginning at 11 AM with Pastor John Autio officiating.
For those wishing to make a memorial donation in Wava Lee’s memory the family has suggested donations be directed to Faith Lutheran Church. Envelopes will be available at the memorial service.
