Virginia “June” Haas, age 89 of Edmore, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2020 at Spectrum Health United Hospital in Greenville.
Virginia was someone who loved to go shopping and stop at garage sales, not because she necessarily needed anything, but rather because she loved to wheel-and-deal and was always in search of a bargain. Throughout her life, she owned and operated many different businesses. Virginia loved tending to her garden and enjoyed canning a lot of what she grew. Family get togethers were a favorite of hers and she loved spending time with everyone. She enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre, going dancing, camping, and reading. For 20+ years, her winters were spent in Zephyrhills, Florida where she made many friends.
Surviving Virginia is her husband, Don Haas of Edmore; her children, Merlene Cole of Greenville; Lois (Joe Pat) Welch of Highlands, Texas; Merle Jr. (Lynn) Henry of Winn; Corinne (Ron) Anderson of Greenville; Melody (Darwin) Smith of Stanton; Berle (Anne) Henry of Appleton, Wisconsin; Verlyn (Vicky) Henry of Morenci; lots of grandkids; many great grandchildren; her siblings, JoAnn (Virl) Wright of Farwell; Stanley (Shirley) Phelps of Mt. Pleasant; Patsy Hillman of Alma and lots of nieces and nephews.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence & Nellie (Vinton) Phelps; daughter, Shelly Deming; grandson, Little Randy Owen; sisters, Bev Kruger; Francis Brown; Emily Campbell; brothers, Gerald Phelps and Sam Phelps.
A celebration of Virginia’s life will be held at a later date this year.
