Obituary for Viola Getts (Brandow)

Viola June Getts, 81 of Six Lakes, passed away on Tuesday May 22, 2018 in Grand Rapids. Viola was born on June 25, 1936 in Greenville, the daughter of Silas E. and Ruth S. (Dan) Brandow.

On December 24, 1955 she married Ronald Getts and together enjoyed over 50 years of marriage, until his death in 2007. Viola loved her flower garden and tending to it, she enjoyed fishing, having garage sales and going to them, picnics, bird watching (particularly looking for eagles) and spending time with her family, especially her grandkids and great grandkids. For many years she was a school foster grandma in the Six Lakes and Lakeview school districts and was always delighted when she would see one of her former students.

Viola is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Ronald, her eldest son; Jerry, brothers; Ernest and Harold along with her sister Bernadine. She is survived by her daughters; Peggy Getts of Crystal, Donna (Gale) Robidoux of Six Lakes, Ruth Goodeman of Midland, her sons; Edward Getts of Belding, Gene (Julie) Getts of Belding, sisters; Treasa of Grand Rapids, Ruby of Iowa, Hazel of Mount Pleasant, 16 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and lots of friends.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 11am to 12pm at the Lakeview Seventh Day Adventist Church. 8060 Howard City Edmore Road, with a memorial service beginning at 12 noon.

For those wishing to make a contribution in memory of Viola, the family suggests donations to the Paralyzed Veterans of America, envelopes will be available at the church.
