Velma May Soule, 92, of Sheridan passed away at home on September 24, 2019 under the loving care of her family and Emmanuel Hospice.
Born on December 11, 1926, the daughter of Verna B. and Libbie E. (Greenhoe) Patterson, Velma married Syrester Soule on August 12, 1950 and together they enjoyed almost 37 years of marriage until his death in 1987.
Velma was a lifelong resident of Sheridan, worked for many years at Electrolux before retiring, was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, in her younger years she was a member of the Evergreen Free Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, canning, and could make a delicious meal out of anything! She kept a spotless home and was a wonderful mother! She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Surviving Velma are her children; Linda (Larry) Davis of Greenville, Carole (Robert) Reed of Fenwick, Janis Neustifter of Ionia, Norma Soule (Ron Hansen) of Stanton, Brenda Parcher of Sheridan, Dennis (Pam) Soule of Sheridan, Lee (Debbie) Soule of Sheridan, her sister Caroline (Wayne) Bunce of Edmore, 22 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, along with many other extended family and friends. Velma is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter Judy Kay Smith, sister; Vera Abbott, brother; Leonard Patterson; father and mother in-law; Stanley and Lula Soule, and son in-law; Dick Neustifter.
Funeral services will held on Saturday September 28th at 11:00am at Simpson Family Funeral Homes, Sheridan with Pastor Jim Vanderwarker officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. For those wishing to make a contribution in memory of Velma, they may be directed to the Montcalm County Commission on Aging, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
