Tonya Rectenwal (Christensen)

Tonya M. Rectenwal, age 45, of Gowen, passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022, after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

First and foremost, Tonya loved being a mom. She was a 1995 graduate of Central Montcalm High School and enjoyed photography, being outdoors, and four-wheeling. Tonya had a smile that would light up the room and a personality that made everyone around her happy. She loved being around people and loved spending time with her many friends.

Surviving Tonya is her father and step-mother, Kurt & Bobbie Christensen of Edmore; husband, Jacob “Drew” Rectenwal of Gowen; daughter, Kennedy Dunham of Gowen; son, Gage Rectenwal of Gowen; sister, Ashley (Eric) Martin of DeWitt; brother, Jeff (Carmella) Kelly of Oklahoma; aunt Clair (Jerry) Tuin of White Cloud, many other aunts and uncles, cousin, Amy Theisen of Mt. Pleasant, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Susan & Jeff Knill of Greenville; step-daughter, Iesah Kent of Greenville; step-sons, Tristen Dunham of Greenville and Cruz Dunham of Grand Rapids; and friends, Phyllis & Mickey McGuire of Belding.
Tonya was preceded in death by her mother, Stella Rayburn and grandma Marian.

Details for the celebration of Tonya’s life will be announced in the spring.
