Tiofilo Alcoser, Sr

December 28, 1937 — January 28, 2020

Tiofilo “Tio” “Chepo” Alcoser, Sr, age 82, of Carson City, passed away on Tuesday morning January 28, 2020 surrounded by the love of his family. Chepo was born on December 28, 1937 in Poteet, Texas, the second child of ten children. He was raised to the age of 13 in Eagle Pass, Texas. He left home to make his way in the world and worked many jobs until coming to Lansing and working for 32 years at Motor Wheel. On August 27, 1959 he married Cellia Rosas and together they have enjoyed over 60 years of marriage. Chepo and Cellia always loved to have a garden, he would garden and Cellia would do the canning. Chepo would always find someone else to do the weeding though. He loved to dance and sing, and Cellia and him were great dancers. Chepo had many talents and interests, he was a great small engine mechanic and a jack of all trades, he loved to tinker and was always acquiring merchandise, never junk, merchandise! He loved a great bargain, and always made sure he got the best deal in anything he bought. When it was time to sell something, he always made sure to make a profit, otherwise it wasn’t worth selling. His favorite food was anything that his wife cooked, nothing compared to her cooking, he didn’t even like to go out to eat, because the food at home was so much better! He always loved to put Cellia’s homemade chilè on everything, he would wash it down with Miller Lite or ice-cold sweet tea. Tejano music was his favorite and he loved the Tejano Sound Band from Lansing. Most importantly, he loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren, he would always refer to them as “Shorty”, until they grew up and then they called him Shorty and Papa Tio. He had a strong Catholic faith and believed in hard work. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
