Obituary for
Steven Kinney
Steven Paul Kinney, age 68 of Greenville, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 10, 2018 under the care of his family and Faith Hospice.
He was born in Ionia, the son of James & June (Reed) Kinney and is preceded in death by them as well as his step father, Ellis Shotwell, great granddaughter, Angelia and nephew, Gregory Shotwell.
Steve is survived by his children, Darcie Thomas of Greenville; Wesley Kinney of Portland; Holly (Ray) Reed of Lyons; sisters, Jane (Patrick) Hummel of Ionia; Kitty (Thomas) Lower of Ionia; brothers, James Kinney of Ionia; Jeff (Becky) Shotwell of Sheridan; Scott Shotwell of Ionia; grandchildren, Stephanie and Amber Thomas; Tabitha Kinney; Zach and Alex House; two great grandchildren, Eli and Donavan and one soon to be born great grandson, Max and special friend, Amy Gibson of Holland.
Steve was a gifted and talented wood worker and built his own log cabin house. He also enjoyed building kayaks and many other items. He was never afraid of sharing his opinion or engaging in a good political debate. He was an American history buff and loved learning about the Civil War. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, gardening, and copperplate calligraphy. Most of all, Steve loved his family and enjoyed doing things with them and spending time together.
A celebration of Steve’s life will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 beginning at 12 noon at the Ionia Moose Lodge (869 E. Lincoln Ave., Ionia).
