Ruth Kirby

Ruth L. Kirby, age 96, of Sterling Heights, formerly of Stanton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, under the care of her family and Henry Ford Hospice.

Ruth worked for many years as a hall monitor at Finney High School in Detroit. After moving to the Stanton area with her late husband, Ruth attended and became a member at the Nevins Lake Church. She loved being on the water, Ruth also enjoyed going to dinner and a movie, reading and she loved animals, especially her dogs.

Ruth is survived by her sons, Arch (Josie) Kirby of Sterling Heights; Kevin Kirby of Stanton; Kim Kirby of Clinton Township; granddaughter, Melissa Kirby of Grosse Pointe; great granddaughters, Emma and Olivia; nephews, Randy; Dave; Brian; and Kent; and many cousins.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew & Lenora (Swan) Gudme; husband, Arch Kirby; and one brother.
Visitation for Ruth is being held on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Stanton (225 W. Cedar St.) from 2-4 PM. Graveside services for Ruth will be on Monday, December 21, 2020 at Entrican Cemetery beginning at 1 PM with Pastor Dennis Ross officiating.
