Russell Carl Ehlert
Russell C. Ehlert, age 84 of Stanton, passed away at his home on Friday, February 12, 2016.
He was born in Greenville, the son of Herbert & Myrtle Mae (Schmidt) Ehlert and they along with one brother, Herb Ehlert have preceded him in death.
On June 17, 1951 Russell married the love of his life, Alice (Brown) and she survives as well as their children, Mary Ehlert of Stanton, Chris (Pat) Ehlert of Stanton; Jon (Cindy Burns) Ehlert of Stanton; grandchildren, Jenny (Chris) Allen, Steve (Beky) Ehlert, Jon Jr. (Cathryn) Ehlert, Lesa Brenner, Marissa (Charles) Deitz, Leah (Jared) Hufford, Jacklyn Ehlert; 16 great grandchildren and his brother, Floyd (Lorna) Ehlert of Belding.
Russell was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Stanton where he served as Treasurer for many years. After working on his father’s farm growing up, Russell worked at both Gibson in Greenville and the Montcalm County Road Commission.
A celebration of Russell’s life is being held at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan on Saturday, February 20, 2016 from 2-4 PM, with final inurnment at the Forest Hill Cemetery in Stanton.
For those wanting to make a memorial donation in Russell’s memory, the family has suggested donations be made to the Montcalm County Commission on Aging – Journey Program and envelopes will be available at the funeral home on Saturday.
