Roy Wellman

Roy E. Wellman, age 64 of Sheridan, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2019.

Roy was someone who thoroughly enjoyed being outdoors. He especially liked to go hunting and fishing, taking buggy rides on the back roads, and working with his hands as a carpenter. To many, he was known as “Trader Roy” as he absolutely loved to wheel and deal and was always in search of the next great bargain or trade. Roy was also a member of the Hubbardston American Legion SAL’s.

Surviving Roy is his wife, Janet; sons, Roy (Carin) Franks of Ionia and Roy (Jaime) Wellman of Stanton; grandchildren, Destin Franks of Portland; Kaiden Franks of Ionia; Logan Franks-Cooper of Saranac; Mason Wellman and Carley Wellman both of Stanton; brother-in-law, Gary Green of Portland and niece, Theresa Green-Densmore of Portland.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents, Herman & Irene (Zimmer) Wellman; sister, Sharon Green; granddaughter, Brittney Franks and grandson, Christopher Gallagher.

Visitation and funeral services for Roy are being held on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan (246 S. Main Street). Visitation will be from 1-2 PM with the funeral beginning at 2 PM. Final interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

For those wishing to make a memorial donation in Roy’s memory the family suggests you direct them to the Hubbardston American Legion Post 182. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
