Obituary for Ronald Jack Schafer Jr.

Ronald J. Schafer Jr., age 58 of Greenville passed away on Monday, April 13, 2015 at Spectrum Health Blodgett Campus.

Ron was born on January 25, 1957, in Greenville, Michigan, the son of Ronald “Jack” Schafer and Joan (Gachter) Gallagher, both of whom have proceeded him in death.

Ron is survived by a daughter, Mickael Schafer of Tullahoma, Tennessee; two sons, Ronald G. Schafer, of Tullahoma, Tennessee, Marc Denton of Grand Rapids, Michigan; two grandchildren, Aiden Schafer & Kyland Hahn; stepfather, Dewey Gallaher of Sheridan; one sister, Linda & Larry Christensen of Sheridan; two brothers, James & Lorraine Schafer of Fairview Heights, Illinois, Jeffrey & Sheryl Schafer of Bloomfield, Indiana.

Ron was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed working, playing and tinkering with things outside. The owner of The Lawn Ranger Landscaping and Lawn Care business Ron was a very hard worker who took great pride in his work and was extremely meticulous with everything he did. Ron’s goal was to always make everything a little more beautiful then he originally found it. He was also an Army Veteran, a big Harley Davidson fan and will be missed by everyone who knew him.

Visitation with Ron’s family will be on Thursday, April 16, 2015 from 4 – 8 PM at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan.

Funeral services will be on Friday, April 17, 2015 beginning at 11:00 AM with Pastor Ken Harger officiating. Final interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery. The family has suggested memorial donations be made to the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
