Ronald C. Jackson, age 86, of Hersey, passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022 in the comfort of his home under the care of his family and Spectrum Hospice.
Known for his dedication to his family and strong work ethic, Ron was always on the go. He grew up on a farm outside of Lansing and was no stranger to horses and hard work. He worked for Hamilton Saw Mill in St. John’s, Michigan State University, and finally the City of East Grand Rapids (retiring after 38 years!), all while having his own cement business on the side. Ron married the love of his life, Betty, in 1954, spending almost 67 years together. A true provider, Ron loved his family and was sure to take his family on a vacation every year. He loved fixing and selling his finds from flea markets, hobby farming, hunting, fishing, camping, and tinkering on Allis Chambers tractors. He and his wife Betty wintered in Texas and enjoyed visiting family across the county. Most of all, Ron loved his children and grandchildren; he will be missed by all who knew him.
Surviving Ron are his daughters: Deb (Terry) Miller-Pallick of Ionia, and Kelly (Otis) Johnston of Ionia; sons, Richard (Teresa) Jackson of Ravenna, and Todd (Alicia) Jackson of Stanwood; grandchildren: Phillip Smith, Jeremiah Jackson, Paul Smith, Jennifer Jackson, Kurt Smith, Keri Levine, Lacy Fulcher, Megan Jackson, Joyce Jackson, and Ronald Jackson; great grandchildren: Paige, Lucas, Rylee, Avery, Brooke, Katelyn, Eli, Natalie, Madeline, Carter, Hudson, and Hunter; sister Mary (Jon) Giddings of Rodney; loving dogs Pearl, Patty, and Daisy; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents Ted & Doris (Wheaton) Jackson; his wife Betty; sons Ronnie Jackson, and Scott Jackson; sisters Barb Patrick, and Caroline McQueen; and brother Richard Jackson.
Family and friends will gather on Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 11am - 12pm at Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan (246 S. Main St.), with a funeral service at 12pm. Ron will be laid to rest at Tuttle Cemetery in Ionia.
Those who wish may donate in Ron’s name to Spectrum Hospice or St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
