Ron Gibson

Roland “Ron” Gibson, age 91, of Stanton, passed away on Monday, September 20, 2021, at County Friends AFC in Sumner.

While most people live for the heat of summer, Ron loved the winter, especially the snow. Whenever a snowstorm was forecasted, he would be up all-night waiting for signs of the first snowflakes, which he would immediately begin to snow blow and push away. Ron worked at Fisher Body for 30 years and was a member of the Local 602. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, cutting wood, farming, going to the drag strip, and occasionally trying his luck at the casino. Ron also enjoyed his family vacations out west hunting and snowmobiling with family and friends. However, the thing Ron loved above all else was his five great grandsons and all the time he got to spend with them. Ron’s family would like to extend a big thank you to the staff at County Friends AFC and Cathy Liceaga for the wonderful care they have provided him these past few years.

Surviving Ron is his wife of 70 years, Lucille; daughter, Marlene Gibson of Stanton; son, Terry (Cheryl) Gibson of Stanton; grandchildren, Brandon (Melissa) Gibson of Stanton; Breann (Jason) Bonga of Stanton; great grandsons, Brayden, Bryce, Blake, Brock, and Brody; sister, Gloria Phillips of Owasso; sister-in-law, Betty Gibson of Lansing; and many nieces and nephews.

Ron was preceded in death by his dad, Theodore Gibson, mother and stepdad, Tom & Minnie (Gallager) Johnson; brothers, Bernard Gibson, Ted Gibson, and Dick Gibson.

Ron’s life is being celebrated with a memorial service beginning at 5 PM, on Thursday, September 23rd, at Trinity Church in Stanton (415 N. Mill St.). Final inurnment will be at McBride Cemetery.
