Robert L. Sawdy

April 2, 1933 — January 22, 2022

Robert L. Sawdy, age 88, of Stanton, passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at his home.

Bob was a guy who was always serving others and putting his community first. He did this as a member of the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict and for over 30 years as a Montcalm County Sheriff’s Deputy and the Stanton Chief of Police. Bob also gave back by coaching little league and as a Boy Scout Troop Leader. Bob also enjoyed wheeling and dealing and sold cars for many years; he absolutely loved classic cars and going to car shows. When he was younger, he enjoyed roller skating and bowling. However, the thing Bob loved the most was his family and spending time with them. He will be greatly missed by everyone.

Surviving Bob is his wife, Marcia; children, Robert Sawdy Jr. of Stanton, Sue Bresnahan of Sand Lake, Scott (Jamie) Sawdy of Big Rapids, Kathy (Jeff) Otteson of Grand Rapids, and Brian Sawdy of Otsego; grandchildren, Brennan, Kelly, Kyle, Tanner, Hunter, Parker, Walker, Slater, Summer, Morgan, Madeline, Mitchell, and Vincent; great grandchildren, Waverly, Kayla, Bronson, and Brantley; and his father-in-law, Bernard Jenks of Stanton.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Claude & Ione (Conklin) Sawdy; mother-in-law, Velma Jenks; and son-in-law, Brian Bresnahan.

Bob’s life is being celebrated on Saturday, January 29th at the Sheridan First Congregational Church (113 S. Main St.). Visitation is being held from 11 AM to 1 PM, with a memorial service beginning at 1 PM with Pastor Phil VanDop officiating.
