Robert E. Getts, age 82 of Stanton, passed away at his home on Tuesday, July 7, 2020.
A former member of the Montcalm County Sheriff Posse, Bob loved his horses. In his younger years, he would spend his weekends going to, and participating in, Rodeo’s and Horse Auctions. On June 25, 1960, Bob married the love of his life, Maxine Wernette and they enjoyed 60 years of marriage. He was known for his ability to break horses when it seemed no one else could. Bob also was very handy at fixing cars and could often diagnose the problem simply by listening to the noise it was making. But make no mistake about it, just because he was good at it didn’t mean he liked doing it, he did it because it was something that had to be done. Bob also enjoyed watching the Price is Right with his bird Sammy and other court TV shows. He was retired from Electrolux and Bob will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Surviving Bob is his wife, Maxine; daughters, Nancy Getts of Stanton; RaeAnn Getts of Greenville; son, Dominic Getts (Sunny Riplie) of Stanton; grandchildren, Logan Whitman (Tori Ellis) of Lansing; Kaiti (Nick) Cook of Crystal; sister, Erma (Dale “Gus”) King of Stanton; many nieces and nephews; his beloved dog, Twinkie and his bird Sammy.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Harley & Minnie (Perry) Getts; brothers, Vic Getts; Art Getts; Clyde Getts; Colin Getts and sisters-in-law, Joyce Getts and Alice Getts.
Bob’s life will be celebrated at a graveside ceremony beginning at 11 AM on Monday, July 13, 2020 at the Evergreen Township Cemetery.
