Richard Schroeder, age 66, of Riverdale, passed away at his home on Wednesday, December 2, 2020.
If you were to attempt to describe Rick in just a couple of words, those words would probably be “a great guy”. He was someone who would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. Rick was a very handy guy who loved working on old classic cars and building things with his daughter-in-law, Melissa. He also loved riding his motorcycle, fishing, and being outdoors. Rick also served his country during Vietnam as a member of the United States Marine Corps. However, Rick’s favorite thing to do was being around and spending time with his family; he especially loved playing cards and games with his grandchildren. The world was made better because of Rick and he will be deeply missed.
Surviving Rick is his deeply cherished and loved wife, Carol Smith-Schroeder; daughters, Heather (Grigg) Bauer; Holly (Corey) Kretlow; Leeann (Lenny) Arvidson; Connie (Curtis) Schwering; ; Beth Ashman; son, Bill (Melissa) Ashman; grandchildren, Mason; Aiden: Tony; Gage; Michael; Brandon; Gavin; Cade; Tera; Draven; Dayton; Kallie; Adam, sisters, Donna Shepard; JoAnn (Roland) Gasser; Patricia Shepard; Cathrine Rettler; Diane (David) Bunnell;, brothers, William (Cindy) Schroeder; Dennis (Pat) Schroeder, and lots of nieces and nephews.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Jr. & Marie (Belongia) Schroeder, brothers Frederick and Larry Schroeder and one sister, Shirley Sewert.
A celebration of Rick’s life is being planned for a later date.
