Pearl I. Johnson, age 95 of Greenville, passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Our Place Cares.
Surviving Pearl are her daughters, Jackie (Mark) Hoogerhyde of Newaygo; Jeanne (Mike) Studley of Stanton; Joan (Bob) Omstead of Goetzville; son, Steve Johnson of Stanton; grandchildren, Michelle, Rocky, Nikki, Danielle, Cindy, Tammy, Tina; seventeen great grandchildren; one great granddaughter; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard & Joyce Johnson of Stanton; sister-in-law, Margo Welsh of Virginia and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pearl is preceded in death by her parents, Michael & Pearl (Leach) Welsh; husband, Harry Johnson; three brothers, Harold Welsh, Edward Welsh and Bernard Welsh as well as four sisters, Esther Borland, Sarah Morrison, Frances Mayville and Marian Fox and sister-in-law, Imogene McConnell.
Pearl is a longtime resident of Greenville and Stanton, formerly of Lakeview. In her younger years she was a member of the Sheridan VFW Auxiliary and the Stanton American Legion Auxiliary. She loved reading, quilting and watching the wildlife, especially the birds and deer. Pearl was amazing at crossword puzzles and would solve them in record time. She also loved tending to her flower and vegetable gardens and always took care of her lawn. She was retired from Federal Mogul.
A celebration of Pearl’s life is being held on Sunday, December 9, 2018 from 2-4 PM at the Douglass Township Hall (3521 W. McBrides Road, Stanton).
For those wanting to make a memorial donation in Pearl’s memory the family suggests they be directed to either Kindred Hospice or the charity of your choice.
