Obituary for
Patricia "Patsy" Madsen
Patricia (Patsy) Maxine Madsen, age 96 of Sidney passed away peacefully at the Laurels of Fulton on Wednesday, May 16, 2018.
Born in Sheridan on February 28, 1922 she is the daughter of James & Eva (Sangine) Lively. Preceding her in death are her parents; husband, Carl; son, John Madsen; daughter, Eva Rutherford; granddaughter, Kathleen Albertson and three sisters, Belle, Kate and Rosie.
Surviving Patsy is her daughter, Sharon (William) Albertson of Greenville; grandchildren, Patricia Madsen; Todd (Julie) Madsen; Lori (Jerry) King; Joel (Kim) Madsen; Charles (Carmen) Albertson; Richard (Eulonda) Rutherford; Annette (Jay) Edwards; several great grandchildren and many special friends.
Patsy was a farm wife who came from strong Irish stock who along the way adopted her husband’s Danish lineage. She would care for anyone and anything that happened along her path in life, including more than a few cats, a couple of cute chipmunks and many people who needed nourishment, both for their stomachs and souls. She worked as a nurse assistant for many years and loved working at Sheridan Hospital and liked working with her co-workers. There is nothing she enjoyed more than sitting out on her porch and enjoying the views, watching the wildlife and looking at her flowers. Patsy also enjoyed music very much, both singing and listening. Whenever her “accordion man” would play, her face would always light up with a big smile. She was also a very talented crafter and had a knack for making beautiful quilts.
Her family cannot thank all of her friends enough for being there for her over the years and all the care they provided to her.
Patsy’s life is going to be celebrated on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan. Visitation with her family will be from 10-11 AM and funeral services will begin at 11 AM with Pastor Jamey Nichols officiating. Final interment will be at North Sidney Cemetery.
For those wishing to make a memorial donation in Patsy’s memory the family suggests donations be directed to the Humane Society in honor of her love of animals. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
