Norval and his late wife, Mary Ellen enjoyed spending time at their cabin in Lake City, where they hunted for mushrooms, and going to North Port, Florida in the winters, which they did for 17 years. Norval loved sports, especially football, but his favorite things to watch were any activity that involved his grandchildren and great grandchildren; he was very proud of all of them and one of their biggest fans.
