Merelene Ann Hull, age 81 of Fenwick passed away on Friday, October 31, 2014 at her home under the care of Great Lakes Hospice. She was born in Ionia on June 7, 1933 the daughter of Orsen & Lillian (Wingate) Nielsen.
On January 23, 1953, Merelene was married to Donald H. Hull and together they have enjoyed 61 years together. Surviving is her husband, Donald along with their three children, David & Monique Hull, Bryan & Janet Hull, Susan Mathewson & Brian Goutziers, 9 grandchildren, Kevin Wadkins, Nathan Hull, Xander and Zachary Hull, Amy McMillan, Sara Barton, Christopher, Jennifer and Keisha Mathewson, 14 great grandchildren, Kynsee Wadkins, Ethan, Nolan, Reid and Brendan Hull, Alyssa and Ryan McMillan, Drew and Grace Barton, Hunter, Adrianna and Skyler Mathewson along with Alexis Mathewson-Heiss and Trey Horning.
Preceding Merelene in death were her parents, a granddaughter, Angela Hull, a sister, Ada Jean Lorentz and two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Hull and Dorothy Grigsby.
Merelene graduated from Ionia Schools and attended Western Michigan University. She worked for the Ionia Fair Board for many years and also as a secretary to the superintendent of Ionia Schools, but most of all, she enjoyed being a farmers wife. She enjoyed cooking for her family and was very good at it, as well as knitting. In addition, she enjoyed camping with their motorhome and always loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, who will all miss her very much.
A special thank you goes out to her caregivers, Pam, Linda and Nancy; we could not have done it without all of you.
Funeral services beginning at 11:00 AM will be held at the Shiloh Community Church on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 with Pastor Kenneth Harger officiating. Interment will be at the Orleans Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan on Monday, November 3rd from 6:00 until 8:00 PM where the family will meet with friends and relatives.
For those desiring to do so, the family suggests memorial considerations can be made to the Great Lakes Hospice. There will be envelopes available at the funeral home.
