Mary J. Scott, age 70, of Stanton, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Spectrum Health Kelsey under the care of Spectrum Hospice.
Mary had a certain way with people that made them feel comfortable, welcomed, and valued. This ability served her well throughout the various jobs she had, starting out almost 40 years ago as a cashier at the Clifford Lake Party Store and then for 15 years as a teller with Sidney State Bank. However, the place where that skill came in the most useful was the role which Mary loved and enjoyed the most; as a wife, mom, and grandma. Mary loved baking things for her family, decorating her home for the holidays, especially Christmas, going to her grandkid’s events, and being “mom” to lots of kids.
Surviving Mary is her husband, Larry; sons, Jeff (Kim) Scott of Greenville; Tim (Kendra) Scott of Stanton; grandchildren, Azlynn; Paxton; Abigail; Tailey; Khilen; Mackinzey; Gavin; sisters, Linda (Ken) Rogenvin of Jackson; Beth (Randy) Schumacher of Grand Blanc; sister-in-law, Bonnie Miller of Greenville; several nieces and nephews; and many longtime friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Lester & Betty (Graham) Miller; sister, Sally Miller; and her brother, Wayne Miller.
Visitation for Mary will be held on Monday, March 22, 2021 from 3 to 7 PM at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Stanton (225 W. Cedar St.).
A private family funeral will be held later. Mary will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery.
For those wanting to make a memorial donation in Mary’s memory the family suggests you direct them to the National Federation of the Blind of Michigan. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
