Mary Ellen Giddings

Mary Ellen Giddings, age 85, of Rodney, formerly of Lansing, passed away at her home on Thursday, February 2, 2023, under the loving care of her family and Corewell Hospice.

Mary was an avid gardener who loved growing and tending to her plants and flowers. She was a member of the Original Michigan Fiddlers Association and was active with TOPS Club (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) for 35 years. Animals held a special place in her heart, especially horses and dogs, and she raised Boston Terriers in her younger years. Mary and her husband, Jon, refurbished antiques for many years and also made lots of friends in Texas and Florida where they wintered for 30 years.

Surviving Mary is her husband of nearly 69 years, Jon; their daughters, Mary Beth (Robert) Morris and Gail Giddings; grandson, Jonny Hoffman; sister-in-law, Eva Goddard; and many nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Ted & Doris (Wheaton) Jackson; daughter, Jody Giddings; son, Mark Giddings; sisters, Barb Patrick and Caroline McQueen; and brothers, Richard Jackson and Ronald Jackson.

Mary's life is being celebrated with a memorial service beginning at 11 AM on Saturday, April 8, 2023, at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan (246 S. Main St.).
