Martin “Marty” Lund, age 56, of Sheridan, went to be home with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, passing away at Spectrum Health Blodgett Hospital under the care of his family and Spectrum Hospice.
Marty was a very passionate man. First and foremost, he was passionate about his faith. He was also passionate about food and cooking, especially his grilling and barbecue. Marty had a passion for helping people which he did through counseling as a licensed Therapist at Community Hope Christian Counseling Center. He was also passionate about education and was an alumnus of Montcalm Community College, Grand Valley State University, and Western Michigan University, where he earned his Master’s Degree in Social Work. However, next to his faith, Marty was most passionate about his family and loved spending time with them and will be deeply missed by everyone.
Marty is survived by his wife, Lisa Lund of Sheridan; daughter, Hannah Lund of Sheridan; sisters, Deanna Lund of DeWitt; Leslie (Fred) Cantwell of Grand Ledge; Victoria Lund of Grand Rapids; Gina (Mike) O’Reilly of Fraser; Debbie (Jim) Evans of Valley Station, Kentucky; Pam (Ron) Netter of Louisville, Kentucky; Cissy (Steve) Sherrod of Louisville, Kentucky; brothers, Larry Bennett of Valley Station, Kentucky; Kirk Draney of Utah; Jamie Nummer of Harrison Township; Eric (Traccie) Lower of Ionia; many nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend, Rick Grosnickle of Detroit.
Marty was preceded in death by his mother, Vera Lund; father, Lloyd Lund; and sister, Leisa Lund.
Visitation is being held on Sunday, July 25, 2021, from 3 to 7 PM at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan (246 S. Main St.).
Funeral services for Marty will be held on Monday, July 26, 2021, beginning at 11 AM at the Greenville Community Church, 6596 Vining Rd., Greenville) with Pastor Bryan Savage officiating. Final inurnment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Sheridan.
