Obituary for Louis Morse

Louis Morse, age 85 of Lakeview, passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Spectrum Health Kelsey in Lakeview.

A pillar in the greater Lakeview community for many years, Louis was the current Cato Township Clerk and was very active in local government and politics. He was a proud member of the Republican Party where he held numerous positions at both the county and state levels throughout the years. Louis and his wife, Anna, also owned and operated Morse Oldsmobile-Pontiac-GMC for 25+ years. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Lakeview VFW Post 3701 and Morley American Legion Post 554. When he received his Certified Michigan Municipal Clerk certification, he was just the 8th person in Michigan to earn that designation, which was something he was very proud of. Louis loved his family and his Lakeview community very much. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Surviving Louis is his wife of nearly 66 years, Anna; daughters, Amy Martin of Stanton and Sue Gilbert of Greenville; son, Craig (Leesa) Morse of Titusville, Florida; grandchildren, Zack Martin of Grand Rapids; Aaron Gilbert and Nick Gilbert, both of Greenville; sisters-in-law, Mabel Tate of Greenville; Marjorie Lund of Greenville; Margaret Rasmussen of Lakeview; Doris Rasmussen of Orleans; sisters-in-laws and brothers-in-laws, Audrey & Jerry Crane of Six Lakes and Bernard & Kay Rasmussen of Stanton and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Louis in death is his father, Otto Morse; mother, Shirley Dalby and step-father, Leonard Dalby.

A Celebration of Louis’s life is being held on Monday, November 12, 2018 from 3-6 PM at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Stanton (225 W. Cedar Street). Please feel free to come and go as your schedule allows.
