In 1951 at age 8 on a school bus, Loren met Mary Salazar and instantly fell in love. In 1960, Loren and Mary were married and in 1965 they bought a house in Sheridan, where they lived together until her passing in 2003. Loren loved racing, where for many years he drove the #610 at Crystal Motor Speedway, where he still holds the record for the most number of consecutive feature wins. Loren was a committed family man, who passed at a chance to race professionally in what was then known as the NASCAR Busch Series, because he didn’t want to have to move his family.
In celebrating Loren’s life, his funeral is being held on his birthday, Thursday, January 29, 2015 beginning at 11 AM at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan with Pastor Jamey Nichols officiating.
Visitation with his family will be on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 from 4-7 PM, also at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan.
