Obituary for Leonard John "Swede" Lund

Leonard J. Lund, better known as “Swede”, age 80 of Sheridan passed away at his home, surrounded by his family on Friday, October 2, 2015.

He was born the son of John & Molly (Norquist) Lund in Sidney, but was raised by Otto & Anita Lund after the passing of Leonard’s mom a few months after his birth, all of whom have preceded Leonard in death. In addition, he is preceded in death by his sister, Martha Miller, brother Frank Lund and brother-in-law Leon Miller.

On October 31, 1953, Leonard married the love of his life, Deloris and she survives him along with their daughter, Rickie & Doug Alexander of Sheridan; son, Danny & Colleen Lund of Belding; grandchildren, Amy & Brad Throop, Lori Williams, Rachael Lund, Heather Lund, great grandchildren, Emily and Logan Throop and Hoyt Parker; sister-in-law, Marjorie Lund of Greenville and several nieces and nephews.

A longtime resident of the Sheridan area, Leonard retired from Federal Mogul in Greenville after 35 years. Leonard was a member of the Sheridan Masonic Lodge and loved to ride motorcycles, go bowling, dancing, playing cards and country music.

Visitation with Leonard’s family will be on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan.

Funeral services for Leonard are being held on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 also at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan beginning at 11 AM with Pastor Jim Vandewarker officiating. Final interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery.
