Kari Ann Chapin, age 74, of Derby Lake, passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2021, at her home under the loving care of her family and Spectrum Health Hospice.
Kari Ann had several different jobs throughout her lifetime, working 12 years at Chapin Dairy Farms, 11 years at Ore-Ida Foods, and 10 years at Bookwalter Motor Sales. She also had many hobbies and things she liked to do, such as crafting, knitting, painting, weaving flowers, spending time at the lake, camping, being with friends, and laughing. However, her most favorite thing to do and be was also the thing she was the best at; being a grandma, mom, and wife. Kari Ann loved her family and loved spending time with them. She always could be found cheering on her grandkids in all their activities, helping to feed the various teams they were on, and reminding them how much they all were loved. The world was made because Kari Ann was in it and her passing leaves a hole in the heart of everyone who knew her.
Surviving Kari Ann is her beloved husband of 55 years, Dennis; sons, Greg (Sally) Chapin; Kurtis Chapin; and Steve Chapin, all of Stanton. Grandchildren, Kara Chapin; Danielle (Robert) Drumm; Tyler Chapin; Trey Chapin; Brooke Chapin, all of Stanton, and great grandson, Miles Kava of Stanton; sister, Karen (Dan) Blackmer of Lakeview; brothers, Rick (Sharon) Gerlach of Vestaburg and Rob Gerlach of Dorr. Kari Ann is also survived by lifelong family friends, Kathy Ries and Sarah Ries, both of Greenville; Jim and Rhonda Heimbecker; and Chris and Chris Rydahl, all of Derby Lake.
Kari Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Homer & Florence (Lillie) Gerlach; daughter-in-law, Katie Allen; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dale & Letha Chapin.
A celebration of Kari Ann’s life is being planned for a later date in the spring.
