Judy Dowell

Judy Ann Dowell, age 76 of Edmore, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2018 at Spectrum Health United Memorial Hospital in Greenville.

She was born the daughter of Robert & Jane (Thomas) Shurlow in Edmore on February 17, 1942. Judy is preceded in death by her parents; son, Brian Dowell; daughter, Dana Dowell; brothers, Bill Shurlow, Tom Shurlow and Robert Shurlow Jr.; sister, Pat VanWagner and her special friend, Jerry Jorgensen.

Surviving Judy are her daughters, Cindy Jorgensen of Six Lakes and Billie Jo Christensen of Greenville; sons, Dickie Dowell of Mt. Pleasant and Mike Dowell (Kaleigh Nielsen) of Lakeview; son-in-law, Chad Christensen of Greenville; sister, Sally Shurlow of Edmore; grandchildren, Cassie, Joe, Trenton, Aubrie, Jerred, Jenna, Cade, Henry, Gracie and great grandchildren, Amarys, Cylas, Brayden, Ezra and many nieces and nephews.

Judy loved her family, especially her grandkids. When she was younger she loved working with children with special needs. She retired from Hitachi in Edmore after 25+ years. When she wasn’t working, Judy enjoyed being outside, painting, sewing and bowling. She was a great mom and nana who will be deeply missed by everyone.

Memorial services celebrating Judy’s life are being held at 6 PM on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at the Edmore First Church of God (123 E. Main Street) with Pastor Steve Gulick officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donation in Judy’s memory be directed the Edmore First Church of God. Envelopes will be available at the memorial service.
