Joshua Karl Fish, age 36, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Friday, June 22, 2018, while out on a run on one of his favorite pathways at his parent’s property just north of Stanton.
He was born the son of Steve & Susan (Springsteen) Fish on December 17, 1981 in Greenville.
Josh is preceded in death by his grandparents, Sydney & Edith Fish; grandpa Harold Springsteen, uncle, James Butler; cousins, Erin Springsteen and Edwin Springsteen and his good friend, Roger Christensen.

Josh came into this world at a joyous time of the year and was a joy to all who knew him throughout his life. He graduated from Central Montcalm High School in 2000, received a degree from Grand Valley State University in 2008 and returned to GVSU for a Graduate Teaching Certificate in 2017.
Josh was a citizen of the world who loved to travel and explore other cultures. He lived and taught English in Taiwan and China and also lived at various times in Ireland, Alaska, California and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He also had the opportunity to travel extensively in Asia and India while living in Taipei, Taiwan. Josh was blessed to have made many wonderful friends throughout the world and kept in close contact with most of them.
Josh was a firm believer in liberties and human rights for all people. He was an environmentalist, an educator, and a philosopher. One could always count on Josh for a good conversation. Josh was a great listener, contributing to conversations with insight and often employing his quirky sense of humor. He was also known for his kindness, thoughtfulness, and patience and possessed a wonderful ability to put people at ease.
Josh was adventurous and loved hiking, climbing, river tracing and many other outdoor activities. He had hiked many sections of the North Country Trail, especially in the Upper Peninsula. He had a passion for reading and writing and would often blog about his travels and adventures. He loved to cook and could make any combination of refrigerator leftovers taste delicious.
Josh’s love and commitment to his family had drawn him back to Michigan and he had just completed a successful first year of teaching public school as a third-grade teacher at Lincoln Elementary in Sault Ste. Marie. He was excited to be offered a teaching position in the Greenville Public School system and was planning to begin at Baldwin Heights in the fall as a second-grade teacher.
Josh’s family would like to invite everyone to help celebrate his life on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at his parent’s house, located at 610 W. Briggs Road in Stanton, beginning at 4 PM where they will have a bon fire and be sharing lots of Josh stories and memories.
