Obituary for
John Gary Hansen
John G. Hansen, age 69, of Stanton, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at his home under the loving care of his family and Heartland Hospice.
Born the son of Levi & Beulah (Petersen) Hansen on February 12, 1946 in Sheridan, John is preceded in death by both his parents; sister, Brenda Kahl; father and mother-in-law, Adam & Elisabeth Fedewa; brothers-in-law, Dean Gage, Vernon Fedewa, Bill Fedewa, Jim Haas and sister-in-law, Vivian Fedewa.
John is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Mary Beth Hansen; daughters, Stacey (Chad) Hopkins of Sanford, Jamie (Jeremy) Hopkins of Sheridan, Shawn (John) Solomon of Interlochen; son, Mark (Lora) Hansen of Coleman; grandchildren, Riley, Reese, Brooke, Landon, Caden, Aubrey, Oliver John; sister, Jane Gage of Stanton and sister-in-law, Nancy Meade of Greenville.
A wonderful husband, great dad and an awesome Grandpa, John was a great family man. He enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his family. A Vietnam Veteran, John retired from Federal Mogul in Greenville after 35 years of work. He was also a member of St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church in Stanton, the Knights of Columbus, and a life member of the Lester J. Sitts VFW Post 5065 in Sheridan.
Visitation with John’s family will be on Monday, January 4, 2016 from 4 – 7 PM at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan.
A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 beginning at 11 AM at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church in Stanton with Father Dominic Tirkey as celebrant. John will be laid to rest at Hillside Cemetery in Entrician.
For those wanting to make a memorial donation in John’s memory, the family has suggested memorial donations be made to either the Wounded Warrior Project or Heartland Hospice and envelopes will be available at both the funeral home and church.
