John Rayburn DeYoung Sr.

John R. DeYoung, Sr., age 67 of Crystal, passed away on Tuesday, June 2nd at Spectrum Health Butterworth in Grand Rapids.

On August 14, 1947, John was born the son of Rayburn & Delphina (Zammeron) DeYoung in Carson City and they both proceed him in death.

John is survived by his wife, Iva and their children, Lanora Hilliker of Crystal, John II & Kami DeYoung and Myron DeYoung both of Sheridan; five grandchildren, Brenten, Logan, Alex, Karlee and Ella; two sisters, Jeanne Plant of Georgia, Jan & George Sheldon of McBain and one brother, Jeff & Carla DeYoung of Carson City.

A Vietnam veteran, John was an avid race fan and drove race cars for many years. While he was a man of few words, John had a big heart and loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He retired from Oldsmobile in 1998 after working there for 30 years. John will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Visitation with John’s family will be on Sunday, June 7th from 4-8 PM at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan.

Funeral Services are being held on Monday, June 8th beginning at 1:00 PM also at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan, with Pastor Jamey Nichols officiating. Final interment will be at the Crystal Cemetery, with Military Honors being given by the Sheridan VFW Post 5065 Honor Guard.
