John Cottrell, age 78, of Stanton, passed away at his home under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Hospice.
John proudly served his country as a member of the Army National Guard. He worked for Wolverine World Wide in Greenville and Rockford, and Frigidaire. John also owned and operated Northland Sports in Ionia and Cottrell’s Lawn Service in Stanton for many years. When he wasn’t working, John loved to go fishing, hunting, golfing and training his bird dogs. John was also a member of the Stanton American Legion.
Surviving John is his wife, Carol; stepbrothers, David Fountain, Steve Fountain, and Galen Fountain all of Ionia; sister-in-law, Helen Warren of Dexter; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Larry and Sheila Camp of Stanton; nephew, Casey (Bridget) Camp of Clarkston; niece, Heather (Angelo) Rodriguez of Long Beach, California; and great nieces, Maiela Rodriguez, Lusi Rodriguez, both of Long Beach, California and Brooklyn Camp of Clarkston.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Veda Belle Cottrell; father and stepmother, Leslie and Merian Cottrell; and stepbrother, Daryle Fountain.
A celebration of John’s life is being planned for a later date.
