Jay Dean Seat of Carson City, went to be with his Savior and Lord on March 8, 2022. He was born on March 19, 1939 in Flint, to Jarold and Jean Seat.
Jay loved his family and will be missed by his wife Kathy of 60 years, his daughters, Karen (Larry) Powell of Ithaca, Susan (Mark) Borden of Carson City, and Sara (Nelson) Boyd of Valrico, Florida. Six grandchildren, Bethany Helsel, Brianna Strouse, Matthew (Maria) Borden, Timothy Borden, Abigail Boyd, and Oliviya Boyd and grandsons-in-law Mike Helsel and Mitchell Strouse. Seven great-grandchildren, Braelyn, Raegan and Nora Helsel, Brinlee and Ava Strouse, and Karlie and Ariel Helsel. Siblings, Judy (Alan) Parker, Gary (Pat) Seat, and Jon Seat. Sisters-in-law, Jane (Steven) Green and Jennifer Baragar and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and parents-in-law, Jack and Marjorie Smith, great-grandson Benjamin Strouse, and nephews Steven Seat and Jason Baragar.
Jay graduated from Carson City High School with the Class of 1957 and from Ferris Institute. He was a lifelong printer who with his wife owned and operated The Country Press for many years. He enjoyed his small farm and animals. He also enjoyed traveling and camping with his family and friends.
Jay loved the Lord and was blessed to serve at World Missionary Press in New Paris, Indiana as well as several other printing ministries. He attended First Baptist Church of Carson City.
Visitation is being held on Friday, March 11th at the First Baptist Church Exit Building (10010 E. Carson City Road, Carson City) from 5 to 7 pm.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, March 12th, beginning at 1 pm with visitation from 12 noon to 1 pm at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Center (10204 E. Carson City Road, Carson City) with Pastor Jim Barrett and Pastor Mike McAlvey officiating.
Graveside services will be held at the Bloomer Township Cemetery immediately following the funeral service.
