Obituary for
Jack Wickerham
Jack Wickerham, age 84, of Sheridan, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Spectrum Health United Hospital in Greenville.
Jack was born the son of Joseph & Ruth (Beard) Wickerham on June 30, 1930 in Crystal. He is preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Arthur Keene.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Arlene, their children, Carol Gauvin of Tampa, Florida, Joel Wickerham of Christiansburg, Virginia, Jay & Michelle Wickerham of Sheridan, six Grandchildren, Shawn, Josh, Jake, Ben and Emma, five Great Grandchildren, Michael, Gus, Wren, Coby and Veronica, one sister, Eunice & Howard Brayton of Sheridan, two brothers, Floyd & Sue Wickerham and Joseph & Bonnie Wickerham both of Greenville.
Jack worked for 25 years at the Ionia Reformatory, he was a talented woodworker and cabinet maker. He was a great husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He loved to garden and be outdoors. He loved his family very much and took great pride and pleasure in watching them grow. Each November, Jack always looked forward to “deer camp” with his family in the north woods. He was an active member and past president of the Sheridan Lions Club. After working a full day, there were many nights and weekends where he could be found working on various remodeling projects in the Sheridan area.
Visitation with Jack’s family will be on Thursday, March 12, 2015 from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan. Funeral services for Jack will begin at 1:00 PM with Pastor Phil VanDop officiating. Final interment will be at the Sheridan Cemetery.
For those desiring to make a memorial donation in Jack’s memory, the family has suggested donations be made to the MCC Heritage Village and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
