G. Irene Packard, age 103, of Stanton, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2011 at her home. She was born on September 24, 1907 in Cadillac, the daughter of Orton & Ethel (Chamberlin) Ward.
On March 16, 1930, she was married to Frank D. Packard and he passed away on November 30, 1988. Also preceding her in death was a daughter, Iris Hoover, a son, Franklyn Packard, a brother, Wayne Ward and a grandson, Nathan Packard.
Surviving are three children and their spouses, Patricia & Gaylord Houghton of Stanton, Virgil L. & Bonnie Packard of Gowen and Ethel & Donald Kuney of Stanton plus 14 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren.
Mrs. Packard has been a longtime resident of the Stanton area, was a charter member of the Nevins Lake Church, a graduate of Central Michigan University and retired as a teacher.
Funeral services will be held at the Simpson Family Funeral Home, Sheridan on Wednesday, May 11th, beginning at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Harold Pothoven and Pastor Dennis Ross officiating. Interment will be at the Trufant Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 10th from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. where the family will meet with friends and relatives.
For those desiring to do so, the family has suggested memorial considerations can be made to the Nevins Lake Church. There will be envelopes available at the funeral home.
