Ipha D. Fishell passed away January 24, 2023, just two weeks after losing her husband, Dr. Frank E. Fishell. There were married on November 7, 1953. She was born on April 26, 1931 in Abiline,Texas, to James Herbert and Mary (Conner) Bush. She is survived by her children, Lyn Fishell, Jay Fishell and Brett Fishell, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, her sister Barbara Bush Bonner. Preceeding her in death are her husband and parents, a brother James Bush, an infant daughter Karen Fishell and daughter Valerie Fishell.
Ipha was trained as a surgical RN. She enjoyed working with the doctors and could anticipate the equipment and tools that were needed before being told. She also was a nursing instructor at MCC. She loved capping her students as they completed their training.
She and Frank raised their family of four on a farm. The children could roam and play throughout the farm. One shrill whistle from Ipha, and they would come on a run from wherever they were. Ipha and Frank also enjoyed working the gold mine in Alaska. They spent time in Arizona. They built their retirement home in Fredricksburg Texas. They had many adventures together sharing a full and meaningful life.
Cremation has already taken place, as per Ipha's wishes. The family will hold a graveside memorial in April, where she will be interned, next to her infant daughter and husband. Details to be announced, later.
