Helen C. “Chris” Nicholson, age 69 of Fenwick passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 18, 2014 in Grand Rapids. She was born on November 27, 1944 in Greenville, the daughter of Gerald & Helen (Moore) Thompson. Both parents have preceded her in death.
On April 16, 1966, she was married to Richard “Nick” Nicholson and he survives in addition to their son and daughter in law, Bruce & Kelly Nicholson, her two grandchildren, Courtnee and Kamryn, 5 sisters, Geraldine Richards, Greenville, Judy Taylor, Lakeview, Ardith & Lyle Bennett, Stanton, Vonda & Gary Rasmussen, Lakeview, Louise Drain, Lakeview, one brother, Gerry & Ruth Thompson, Stanton plus several nieces and nephews.
Chris has been a longtime resident of the Fenwick area; she was a licensed hair dresser and also retired from Electrolux in 2000. Her greatest love in life was her family, followed closely by the Central Montcalm softball and basketball programs as well as the Michigan Sabercats softball. She will be missed dearly by her family and all those who knew her.
Funeral services beginning at 11:00 AM will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan with Pastor Jamey Nichols officiating. Interment will be at the Clear Lake Cemetery in Fenwick.
Visitation will also be at the funeral home on Wednesday, one hour prior to the funeral service. The family will greet friends and relatives beginning at 10 AM.
For those desiring to do so, the family has suggested memorial considerations can be made to the Central Montcalm girls softball program. There will be envelopes available at the funeral home.
