Gary Cook

Gary Cook, age 81, of Sheridan, died on Saturday, July 23, 2022 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family.

Gary proudly served in the United States Navy from 1958-1961.  A true outdoorsman, Gary loved hunting and fishing with his family and was known to hit the golf course as often as he could.  He enjoyed keeping his yard immaculate and just being in his happy place - outside.  Gary took pride in his large, loving family and cherished spending time with them most of all.  All who knew Gary will miss his kind, generous, and loving spirit.

Left to cherish Gary’s memory are his wife of 29 years, Sandy; son, Chad (Denise) Cook of Stanton; daughters, Patricia (Glenn) Martin of Greenville, Trina (Steve) Speiser of St. Joseph, Holly (Phil) Kava of Stanton, LeeAnn (Randy) Reese of Stanton, and Lori (Jim) Forton of Sheridan; grandchildren, Nicole Phillips, Naomi Whitney, Salena Martin, Gavin Martin, Seth Williams, Anna Williams, Joe Williams, Jackson Speiser, Andrew Speiser, Eden Stephens, Alexandria Jeffery, Philip Kava Jr., Tracy Grider, Mathew Kava, Holly Reese, Molly Arellano, Rick Bracey, Christopher Bracey, and Kaci VanDenToorn; and many loving great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur & Florence (Olsen) Cook; brother Arthur Cook Jr.; sister Barbara Galloup; brothers-in-law Fay Galloup, Jim Letts, and Donald Train; and close great-uncle and aunt Bob & Ova Cook.

Visitation for Gary will be held on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 from 11:00am until time of Funeral Service at 12:00pm at Simpson Family Funeral Homes in Sheridan (246 S. Main St.).  Gary will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Sheridan.

Those who wish may donate in Gary’s name to Central Montcalm Community Foundation.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
