Obituary for Garth Williams

Garth Emerson Williams, age 86 of Stanton, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Sheridan Community Hospital.

As someone who was not afraid of hard work or a difficult challenge, Garth was a jack-of-all-trades. His determination and grit helped him out when he proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict as a US Army Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Infantry division. Garth also served as an MP in the Army. Always willing to try something new he worked as a roughneck in the oil fields, he hauled milk, worked at GM’s Fisher Body in Lansing and was also an over the road truck driver. When he wasn’t working, Garth loved to go hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Stanton American Legion, former member of the NRA and AARP.

Surviving Garth is his wife of 47 years, Susan Williams of Stanton; daughter, Gartheia (Phillip) Draper of Cadillac; sons, Cliff (Alice) Williams of Sheridan; Chuck (Connie) Williams of Stanton; Jeff Williams of Lakeview; grandchildren, Jeremy (Christy) Williams of Stanton; Josh (Stacey) Williams of Stanton; Kim Draper (Ty Goodman) of Le Roy; Jacob Draper (Brandi Hayden) of Cadillac; Christopher (Katie) Draper of Great Falls, Montana; Tara Williams of Cadillac; Nicky Draper of Cadillac; Russell Williams of Sheridan; Robert (Jennifer) Williams of Greenville; Andrea Sigsby of Greenville; great grandchildren, Katelynn; Danielle; David Clay; Devin; Alex; Jeremiah; Thomas; Tatum; Liam; Revan; two soon to be born great grandsons; sister, Patsy Hall of Hersey; brother, Butch (Geraldine) Williams of Stanton; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sally and Robert Booker of Eaton Rapids; sister-in-law, Sona Henderson of Carson City and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
