Obituary for
Foster Girvin
Foster H. Girvin, 97, of Stanton, died on Thursday, February 12, 2015 in Leesburg, Florida.
Foster was born on September 21, 1917 in Carson City the son of Harold and Katy (Wager) Girvin.
On May 8, 1939, in Elwell, Foster married Dorothy M. Marcy and she proceeded him in death on August 30, 2012. In addition to his parents and wife, Foster was also proceeded in death by two sisters, Mazie MacDougal and Bernice Gail as well as two brothers, Frank and Pete Girvin.
Together Foster and Dorothy had six children, Cheryl & Daniel Fronczak of Lansing, Thomas & Joann Girvin of Lake Isabella, Richard & Carol Girvin of Plano, Texas, Robert & Carol Girvin of Lansing, Gary Girvin of Milford and Philip Girvin of Lansing, all of whom survive Foster in death. Additionally, he is survived by nineteen Grandchildren, thirty-three Great Grandchildren, five Great Great Grandchildren, two sisters, Doris & Bob Huyck of Lake Odessa, Lillian Ball-Worthington of Florida and one brother, LeVern & Nita Gervin of Fenwick.
Foster was a veteran of WWII and POW, a member of the Sheridan VFW Post 5065, Sheridan Lions Club and the Sheridan First Congregational Church. He was a very hard working man, having owned Button and Son Moving Company for many years. In his younger days, Foster loved to hunt and fish and actually helped support his mom and siblings growing up by running various trap lines.
In keeping with Foster’s wishes, cremation has already taken place. Visitation with Foster's family will be on Thursday, May 7, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan and a memorial service will be held on Friday, May 8, 2015 beginning at 11:00 AM also at the Funeral Home in Sheridan, with Pastor Phil Vandop officiating.
Final interment will be at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Lansing.
