Floyd Hopkins

Floyd C. Hopkins, age 82 of Sheridan, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at the Laurels of Carson.

Not one to sit around, Floyd was a man always on the go. He worked for many years at General Tire in Ionia and at Bolthouse Farms in Sheridan. Floyd loved hunting deer, bear, coons, and trapping. He enjoyed antique tractor pulling where he could be found pulling his Farmall tractors with family and friends on both dirt and cement. In his later years, Floyd really liked going pheasant hunting in South Dakota with his sons, grandsons, and friends. But above everything, Floyd loved his family and cherished spending time with them.

Surviving Floyd is his wife of 62 years, Joyce Hopkins; daughter, Christine (Wayne) Hopkins-Cranmer of Gowen; sons, Kenneth (Tammy) Hopkins of Sheridan; Alan (Wendy) Hopkins of Greenville; grandchildren, Adam, Nathan, Jennifer, Jason, Jacob and Tyler; great grandchildren, Hallie, Teigen, Zoey, Zada and Blake as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Floyd was preceded in death by parents, Albert Sr. & Beatrice (Jeffrey) Hopkins; son, Philip Hopkins; grandson, Christopher Cranmer; brothers and sisters-in-law, Albert Jr. (Pat) Hopkins; Raymond (Rose) Hopkins; sisters and brothers-in-law, Cleo (Art) Hemmingsen; Betty Johnson and Shirley (Larry) Nostrant as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation for Floyd is being held on Friday, November 15, 2019 from 5-7 PM at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan (246 S. Main St.) and one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday.

Funeral services for Floyd are being held on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 11 AM at the Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan with Pastor Jamey Nichols officiating. Floyds family will be greeting family and friends one hour prior to the funeral from 10 to 11 AM on Saturday. Graveside services for Floyd are being held at 2 PM at Clear Lake Cemetery.
