Ernest "Ernie" Petersen

Ernest W. “Ernie” Petersen, age 84 of Stanton passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Twin Oaks Retirement Home in Gowen, Michigan. He was born on January 6, 1930 in McBride, Michigan, the son of Arlington & Mildred (Wager) Petersen. Both parents and a sister, Jean McCully have preceded him in death.
Surviving Ernie is one son and his wife, Bryan & Denise Petersen of South Bend, Indiana, grandson, Chad and a step grandson, Kyler, two sisters, Avis & Ned Williams of Stanton, Arlene & Tom Greenhoe of Sheridan, a brother, Harold & Cyd Petersen of Ionia, several nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Betty Clevenger and her family.
Ernie has been a lifelong resident of the Stanton area, retired from Tower Automotive, was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, a 52 year member of the Stanton American Legion Post 452, the 40 & 8 and served as chaplain in both organizations for many years. He enjoyed golfing, jigsaw puzzles and Chet Atkins music, but most of all, he loved spending time with his family.
A celebration of Ernie’s life will be held on Sunday, November 9th at 1:00 PM at the Stanton American Legion Post 452, with Military Rites will be given by the Legion’s Honor Guard.
