Obituary for Elwanda Lee Shrum (Bernard)

Elwanda Lee Shrum, age 93 of Greenville passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2016.

She was born the daughter of George Linus & Addie (Parks) Bernard on February 12, 1923 in Bloomfield, Missouri. Elwanda is proceeded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Edwin; son, Robert Joe; six brothers, Noble, Wesley, Jack, Charles, Malcolm, Carl; two sisters, Elaine and Shirley and a son-in-law, Jamison Gill.

Elwanda was a life member of the Sheridan VFW Ladies Auxiliary and a member of Faith Baptist Church in Greenville. She enjoyed crocheting, Swedish embroidery and playing cards. Elwanda was known as the “Skip-Bo Champion” of Green Acres.

Surviving Elwanda are her daughters, Linda Gail (Henry) Jaegers of Greenville, Karen (Syd) Bakshandeh of Camarillo, California, Nancy Gill of Royal Oak; daughter-in-law, Elke Shrum of West Bloomfield; eight grandchildren, Claudia (Ray) Walter, Robert (Linda) Shrum, Steven Jaegers, Christy (Tom) Dunigan, Kathy (Kevin) McGiverin, Jason Gill, David Bakshandeh, Joseph Bakshandeh; twelve great grandchildren and many wonderful friends.

Visitation with Elwanda’s family will be on Monday, April 18, 2016 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at Simpson Family Funeral Homes in Sheridan.

Funeral services are being held at 11 AM on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Simpson Family Funeral Homes in Sheridan with Pastor Bob Winter and son-in-law, Henry Jaegers officiating. Final interment will be at Sunny Hill Cemetery.

For those wanting to make a memorial donation in Elwanda’s memory the family has suggested the Sheridan VFW Ladies Auxiliary or Faith Baptist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
