Edward M. Christiansen, Sr., age 80 of Stanton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 16, 2019, at Spectrum Health Kelsey Hospital in Lakeview under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Hospice.
Ed was a man who knew and understood the meaning of the words commitment and hard work. After the death of his father when he was a young boy, Ed did what he had to do and went to work to help support his mom and family. Those principles he learned as a young boy stayed with him as he worked during the day for 40+ years at Electrolux in Greenville and farmed at night. When he retired, his grandkids and great grandkids became Ed’s primary focus and he loved every minute he was able to spend with them.
Surviving Ed is his daughter, Lynn (Todd) Hetherington of Stanton; sons, Ed Christiansen Jr., of McBride; Ted (Janet) Christiansen of Perrinton; grandchildren, Tarin (Joe) Minkel; Milo Christiansen; Kristin (Travis) Proctor; Katie Christiansen; Colton (Keristin) Hetherington; great grandchildren, Brody; Addy; Delaney; Levi; Kase, sisters, Margie Staines of Florida; Lucille Johnson of Freeport; Phyllis Black of Amble; Joan Williams of Stanton and many nieces and nephews.
Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Milo & Carolina (Doorn) Christiansen, two brothers, Homer and Eldon Christiansen and three sisters, Eleanor Lentz; Mildred Petersen, and Marian Ritter.
A Celebration of Life honoring and remembering Ed is being held on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Simpson Family Funeral Homes in Stanton (225 W. Cedar Street) from 4-8 PM where you are free to come and go as your schedule allows.
